Merry Crabs!

Thu Dec 24, 2009, 9:19 PM

  • Listening to: Crabs for Christmas
Ok.
I know, I re-appeared and then disappeared again. This is because I’ve been pretty involved in a Christmas comic project this whole month. (and I will get back to the game of comment catch-up soon)

I contacted David DeBoy, the creator of the song “Crabs for Christmas”. Very funny song, go listen to it. . . . NOW! :giggle:
Anyway, I asked Mr. DeBoy if I could turn his song into a comic, using characters of my own design. I was pretty surprised when he said yes, rather than calling me a weirdo and getting a restraining order.
So, as of now, I’m planning to upload the comic pages over the course of 3 days: 2 pages on 12/24 (those are up, now), 2 on 12/25 (later in the day) and 2 on 12/26.
I hope you all like them. =)

While you’re waiting, go check out David DeBoy’s website [link] , and the Crabs for Christmas website [link] .

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. (seriously, I’m going to bed)

Run while I'm Distracted!

Hi everybody! First, I just wanna keep this out there. I’m currently open for commission. Click the link for more info. [link]
Anyway. . .
Sorry about my recent ignoring of comments. Lots of things have been keeping me from my computer. Things like work, vacation, never-ending drawing projects, an attempt at creating a second source of income, and plenty of other little interruptions. . . also a lot of comic books and video games should be included in there. =P
In any case, I’m trying to catch up with my various inboxes and whatnot. It’s going slowly. So don’t be surprised if you get a response from me on a comment or picture that’s about a month or more old.
I guess it’s not all that important for me to say this. I just didn’t want anyone to think I was ignoring them on purpose.

Open for Commission

Hey, commissions are opened, now. Yay! :boo:
Thanks, everyone who responded to my last journal. (and if you were just being nice at the time I won’t hold it against you :P)
I’m new at this, so I want to set some guidelines. I hope these sound fair.

A.) Media:
I plan to do mostly digital commissions, meaning I’ll scan the drawing, finish it in Photoshop, Illustrator, or Flash (probably Photoshop), and e-mail the results to the buyer. If someone wants the original mailed to them, I have no problem with that as long as you tell me so before I start drawing. Just be aware, there will be shipping and handling charges.
It for some bizarre reason you want something drawn and colored traditionally, I can do that. Once again it may cost more, due to supplies and such. (This is not recommended, as my traditional skills, beyond graphite and ink, are lacking.)

B.) Payment:
Sorry, but I won’t start anything until I’ve been paid. I wouldn’t normally care, but I know artists who have been burned. That said, I’ll only accept payments through paypal. I’ll give you my paypal address when you note or e-mail me.
Note: when you pay, please include your DA name in the description. Otherwise, I don’t know who you are! D:

C.) Prices:
- Simple pencil sketch: $1.00
- Inked line art: $5.00
- Flat color character drawing: $10.00 (with background add $2)
- Shaded color character drawing: $15.00 (with background add $3)
*These prices assume 1 character. Add $1 per additional character

*In you are asking for something that’s not a character (i.e. the stuff I normally draw), we’ll negotiate pricing through notes or e-mail. Dunno what else you’d want from a goofy cartoonist like me, but hey, I don’t want to close the door on other ideas.

D.) I reserve right to decline a commission if I feel either uncomfortable with the material or that I won't be able to do the concept justice.

E.) I looked up some other artists, who are doing commissions, and one artist I admire had a wonderful idea. A commission form!

Commission form:
Please fill out this info and send it to me in a note or an e-mail. The e-mail I check most often is death_ziggy@yahoo.com (I know. Less than professional) Please put “Commission” or something in the subject, or I might think it’s spam.
1. Your DA name:
2. Your email:
3. Commission type (whether it’s inked, colored, number of characters, etc):
4. Description of character and/or links to character reference:
5. How picky you are about staying on model. Do you like to see other artist's interpretation of your character or do you want it exactly on model? What are the characteristics of the character that you feel need to be there?
6. Anything else I may need to know (pose, background description, mood, etc.)

Phew, that was a lot of info.

Want Sum Artz?

Blah, my job’s going less than swimmingly right now. I hate working at the register, and the hours are few and at the worst times. *grumblegrowl-workingeveryweekend-snarl* And there seems to be no available art-related jobs anywhere.

Anyway, since my schedule is pretty open right now, (aside from the few, lousy hours) I was thinking of opening myself for commissions.
Would anyone would be interested if I did?

I haven’t figured out pricing yet (they won’t be very expensive). And these would likely be digital commissions, unless someone asks specifically for the original or a print (which I would have no problem mailing).

Well, there are still quite a few things I need to work out. At this point, I’m just asking who might be interested.

Let me know. Thanks.

I Exist Today

Hey, I’m another year older today. Huzzah! 22 going on 4.
It’s been a good birthday. I went out to a nice Italian restaurant with my family. The food was excellent, and it was a good time, since I’m not big on parties . . . at least parties that focus on me. Center of attention? . . . Do not want.

Got some cool gifts, too. I got an 8 GB jump drive =D (flash drive, thumb drive, funkymonkey drive, whatever you wanna call it – it’s BIG), Gorillaz: D-sides  , Bolt on DVD, and some much needed monies.

I just finished watching Bolt. It was great! It was a cute story. Bolt himself was adorable. And just from watching the previews, I thought Rhino was going to be an annoying character, but he wasn’t (at least I didn’t think so). He was funny. It worked for the story. And Mittens had a lot more depth of character than I had assumed. Also, the pigeons. I’m wondering if the New York pigeons might have been a nod to the Goodfeathers from Animaniacs.

And I got myself a little early birthday present on the 22nd. At least that’s how I justify buying Pokemon Platinum when I haven’t got any income of my own right now. Anyway, I loves it! Haven’t played past the first gym yet, but hey, I like to take these things at my own pace. Still.
Pokemanz 4 Evah!

That is all.
